  • Undergraduate courses Creative and Interdisciplinary Design (창의적융합디자인)

In this course, basic knowledge for future value innovation such as entrepreneurship, creativity and design thinking are developed through various hands-on activities and practices. In addition, team-based projects based on problem-finding, problem definition, idea generation and prototyping are conducted to improve collaboration, presentation, communication and debating abilities.

  • Undergraduate courses Introduction to Manufacturing Engineering (생산공학)

In this course, the fundamental theories on manufacturing processes and manufacturing system, which are essential for production, are covered. In the case of manufacturing processes, traditional manufacturing processes (casting, welding, forming and shaping, and machining), non-traditional manufacturing processes (electrical-discharge machining, ultrasonic machining, and laser machining) and 3D printing process are mainly covered. In the case of manufacturing system, computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM), manufacturing automation, and smart factory based on big-data analytics and machine learning techniques are mainly covered, and their case examples are also studied.

  • Undergraduate courses Mechanical Vibration (기계진동학)

Mechanical vibration is a fundamental dynamic phenomenon that occurs in a mechanical system. In this course, students can learn how to derive equations of motion through modeling of dynamic phenomena and how to analytically and numerically solve derived equations of motion. In addition, vibration testing technique is taught by measuring and characterizing vibration signals from mechanical systems.

  • Undergraduate courses Introduction to Artificial Intelligence for Mechanical Engineers (기계공학도를 위한 인공지능입문)

In this course, the fundamental theories and methodologies on artificial intelligence (AI) technology, which can be specifically applied to mechanical engineering, are covered. In particular, various AI algorithms such as machine learning, neural network, and deep learning are covered, and big data analytics including mass data collection, signal processing, and statistical feature extraction is also studied. Finally, case studies for design and analysis of robust mechanical systems are given by using above-mentioned AI algorithms and big-data analytics.

  • Graduate courses Advanced Design and Manufacturing Engineering (설계및생산공학특론)

This course covers foundations for design theory and methodology such as design creativity, design cognition, and designers’ interactions and design for X – manufacture, assembly/disassembly, robustness, environment, etc. - methodologies with theoretical and project-based approaches. The advanced theories on traditional manufacturing technologies such as casting, forming, machining, welding and etc. will also be covered in addition to next generation technologies including micro/bio manufacturing, laser-based manufacturing, 3-dimensional rapid prototyping, and so forth.
